मी मराठी जय मराठी !

I am originally from Sangli and grew up with beautiful Marathi language and culture. After getting married, I moved to Wellington, New Zealand in 2014. Since then, I have been trying to showcase our Marathi culture through various skills such as singing and dancing. And now feel very proud to be a part of the Wellington Marathi School, Our Marathi language carries the warmth of our roots, our traditions, and our identity.

Teaching Marathi to our kids overseas is like gifting them a connection to their own story. When they speak our language, they honor their parents, their traditions, and the beautiful culture they come from. It not only keeps our culture alive but also makes every parent proud to see the next generation embracing their heritage with love.

Girija Deshpande

Namaskar! I am a proud mother of two wonderful toddlers and a Civil Engineer by profession. Even while living away from home in India, I remain deeply connected to Marathi language and culture. Teaching Sanskrit, Marathi, and English is a cherished legacy in my family. As I carry that forward, my aim is to help the next generation stay connected to their roots through playful yet meaningful learning sessions.

Kia ora!
I was born and brought up in Mumbai, and I completed my school education in a Marathi-medium school. I moved to New Zealand in 2018 in search of a better work–life balance. Marathi is a language very close to my heart, and here in Wellington, I am dedicated to passing on this beautiful language to our future generations.

Deepali Patil

My name is Deepali Patil, an IT engineer by profession currently based in New Zealand. I grew up in Rasayani, near Navi Mumbai and moved to New Zealand with my husband in 2014 after our marriage. Living away from India made me realise how important it is for kids growing up overseas to stay connected to their mother tongue and cultural roots. Through teaching Marathi, I want kids to enjoy learning the language and feel connected to their grandparents, culture, and roots.
